Top 5 Android Navigation Apps in Latin America - Q4 2020 Performance

As the year 2020 came to a close, the Navigation and Maps category on Android devices saw varying performances across the top applications in Latin America. Data provided by Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the trends of these essential travel companions.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained its popularity with a steady increase in downloads, starting the quarter with approximately 277K downloads and peaking at 377K in the week of December 21st. Weekly active users also saw a rise from 5.87M at the beginning of the quarter, with fluctuations leading to a high of 6.03M in early October, before ending the year with 5.54M active users.

Google Earth downloads remained relatively stable, hovering around the 100K mark for most of the quarter but saw a slight uptick to 103K by the year's end. Active users experienced a more consistent pattern, initially at 793K and eventually rising to 790K in the final week of December.

For GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation, the quarter started with over 112K downloads, which then experienced a downward trend, dropping to around 40K in November, before climbing back up to 94K towards the end of December. Active users mirrored this trend, starting at 217K and dipping to approximately 122K in November, then increasing again to 213K by the third week of December.

Navigation for Google Maps Go saw downloads begin at 47K, with a peak of 51K in early October, and then a gradual decrease to 29K by the end of December. Weekly active users started at 90K, peaked at 98K, and followed a declining trend to close at 67K.

Lastly, Google Maps Go experienced a similar pattern with downloads starting at 44K, peaking at 47K, and then declining to 22K in the final week of the quarter. Active users ranged from 279K at the outset, saw minor fluctuations, and ended the quarter with approximately 264K active users.
